Our Experience: Many of our clients are small to medium sized enterprises (often being owner managed businesses) with turnovers within the range of £5 million to £150 million operating in the firm’s target sectors. We feel that we have a genuine understanding of the issues facing SME’s and in many instances we have been involved from the very beginning of setting up start up businesses which have developed and matured to a point where the business considers flotation or a buy out arrangement.
Our work for SMEs has encompassed the following range:
Start Up:
- advising on the appropriate business structure,
- formation and registration of the business, as well as company secretarial aspects,
- finding appropriate premises, and
- contracts of employment (for the new business as well as advising on restrictive covenants in existing contracts);
Development:
- advising on incentivising employees,
- expansion of the business,
- funding for the business and non-executive directorships, as well as
- the enforcement of contracts and debt recovery;
Maturity:
- advising on mergers and acquisitions,
- flotations,
- MBOs,
- joint ventures,
- de-mergers, and
- executive recruitment and exit management.
Our Approach: We aim to provide to the point, practical and commercial advice which enables our clients to comply with their corporate and employment obligations in particular, whilst still maintaining their competitiveness and realising their business aspirations.
In many respects, we aim to “partner” our SME clients whereby we provide a number of tailored services, including, seminar training for managers, provision of quarterly bulletins and e-mail circulars, advisory services, and annual reviews, which enable our clients to assess where they are, the aims they wish to achieve and the best means of realising their business aims.
